“Based on historical record, some 1,021 ships wrecked;
but of those we only know about 15.
Eight have been archeologically documented, and
I’ve worked on five of them.”

– Kamau Sadiki, Scuba Diver

The Largest Forced Migration in Human History: A Literal Deep Dive

If you’re a fellow history buff, you cannot afford to miss this conversation.

Beginning with a libation, and replete with stories of resistance and revolts, the science behind cultural trauma, bones on the Atlantic sea bed, recommended reading and little known statistics, Kamau Sadiki covers the gamut.

Featured on the Netflix documentary “Descendant”, and executive member of Diving With a Purpose (DWP) and the National Association for Black Scuba Divers (NABA), Sadiki shares personal experiences from diving into the wreckage of sunken “slave” vessels, such as the Sao Jose and Clotilda. He also dives into generational trauma theory and promotes strategies to restore our collective identity and cultural memory.
